A haiku a day...

Vendredi
Tripod, camera,
timerswitch, a flash; the lone
photographer smiles.

Samedi
Elegant lady
in an old gold suit sweeps rose
petal confetti.

Dimanche
Quick dash to market,
gathering fruit, bread and veg,
weekly sustenance.

Lundi
My first sweetpea bloom,
soft red petal lips blowing
  a delicate kiss,

Mardi
Rows of clouds line up
filling the sky, all puff, fluff,
nothingness and rain.

Mercredi
The morning light sings
soft whispery melodies
of accomplishment.

Jeudi
We cosy ourselves
in our happy flat, watching
crap as night draws in.

A haiku a day...

Vendredi
Sparkle! Boom! Bang! Pop!
Gold worms mushroom out, explode
like fireflies dancing.

Samedi
I walk home nibbling
its crispy crust, chewy dough,
baguette on the go.

Dimanche
Snoozy afternoon,
hours dedicated to
dreaming; time goes by.

Lundi
Riverside dancer,
floats on wheels as if on air,
rollerblade ballet.

Mardi
Piles of old fabric
hide crumpled treasures, vintage
beauties to rescue.

Mercredi
Jumping we hover
mid-air as if by magic,
ridiculous fun.

Jeudi
After the monsoon
we twirl amidst puddles to
accordion songs.

A haiku a day...

Friday
Soil, seeds and pots,
we gather them all ready
for window box joy.

Saturday
Patchwork of roof tiles,
Bright sunlight; in the distance
vines are waking up

Sunday
Impromptu concert
drifts up through my window, strange
jazz rhythms, lets dance!

Monday
Boughs laden with blooms,
Peek out between market stalls,
nature meets culture.

Tuesday
My limbs are heavy,
my thoughts dulled, sleep calls me back,
dark, empty and strange,

Wednesday
Lemon, honey, thyme
infused together, fragrant
fight against the germs.

Thursday
Lovely lilac bush,
Impossible to capture
its
delicate scent.

A haiku a day...

Friday
Lost in translation,
so we give up, sip beer and
enjoy life in France.

Saturday
Booming fireworks,
bright lights, river reflections,
explosive welcome.

Sunday
Dimanche en France, so
let's amble to market, rain
can't dampen my day.

Monday
Two new friends for me
outside the épicerie;
chat et coccinelle.

Tuesday
After wine and cheese,
talk turns to tortoises, what
strange little creatures.

Wednesday
Furniture failure,
bureaucracy at the bank,
wednesday blues mean beer.

Thursday
All day long shivers
dart up and down my spine, cold
creeps into my bones.

Ummmm, re-reading this weeks haikuus as I type has made me realise that there are quite a lot of references to wine and beer! haha! Next week I will try and be more sober in my poetry. Lets just say a wee drink every now and then has been helping smooth the transition into France when our attempts to find cheap furniture have repeatedly met with failure....
