A haiku a day...

Friday
Tiny spider hangs
on a thread from the man's head,
(he's oblivious).

Saturday
A double rainbow
so bright we all stop, delight,
at light refractions.

Sunday
Dance with me my love,
we'll defy the morning light,
and twirl round instead.

Monday
Roll over, fall back
into deep sleep, dream quickly
before day begins.

Tuesday
Splash, dash, skip and dodge,
running a rainy errand
avoiding puddles.

Wednesday
Spark, whirl, chatter, zing!
So pleased you got your groove back,
my fun frenzied friend.

Thursday
Tonight I miss you,
the way we hold each other,
a bundle of arms.

A haiku a day...

A double portion of haikus today to get me up to date for the last two weeks...

Friday
Knitting needles click,
French chatter accelerates,
my brain’s in a whir.

Saturday
Wet whiskers, webbed feet
emerging from the river,
muskrat colony.

Sunday
In seconds, grey clouds
become rainstorms, drenching us,
before we can hide.

Monday
Cet après-midi
les heures sont longues, chaque minute
une petite souffrance.

Tuesday
Night hours bring me
apocalyptic visions,
cold sweats and no rest.

Wednesday
Banging door foretells
panic – water everywhere!
Flood emergency!

Thursday
In this town I’ve found
cobbled streets to wander round,
I have happy feet.

Friday
On two wheels I float
past everything, velo fun,
Cycling is flying.

Saturday
The cat on the lead
is an unhappy feline,
He can’t chase the birds!

Sunday
Theatre full of song
and heads thinking secret thoughts,
entranced by the strings.

Monday
Impossible tree
engraves candyfloss branches
onto my mind’s eye.

Tuesday
Out of boxes we
unearth forgotten treasures
from the before time

Wednesday
Surprising flowers,
unreal, petals everywhere
until I awake.

Thursday
French horns ring out loud,
echoing around the square,
a blast of grandeur.

A haiku a day...

Friday
We pack up our life,
put in in boxes, watch our
home become a house.

Saturday
As the rain falls down
the night falls around me and
I fall fast asleep.

Sunday
Irredescent joy,
Bubbles float over my head
tiny moments pop.

Monday
Once more with feeling,
run along the beaten track,
Soon I'll search new paths.

Tuesday
This room is empty
but for memories now, strange
transitory time.

Wednesday
Language slips, plays, twists,

defines and defies us, makes
magic possible.

Thursday
As the singers sing,
talk turns to unspoken truths:
sometimes life is sad.

A haiku a day....

I'm still busy hibernating so I'll let the haikus do the talking...

Friday
It's still night time when
we awake, as I drift off,
you fly far away.

Saturday
Presentation's all,
Fold up the pretty paper,
Wrap it all in ribbons.

Sunday
It's Christmas once again,
A day like no other day,
Magic fills the air.

Monday
Mad starlings flock here,
as day meets it end they swoop
and circle like one.

Tuesday
Up above the clouds...
(Landscapes of condensation,
That make my ears pop).

Wednesday
Gale force winds ruffle
Feathers on the blue tit's head,
As he pecks his lunch.

Thursday
Twilight cloaks the world,
A deer peers out, silent, still,
Disguised as a tree.

A haiku a day...

Friday
Jazz singer lady,
climbs tables, curls up small: love,
pain - she sings it all.

Saturday
Amidst all the noise,
we hold hands in the darkness,
awaiting our dreams.

Sunday
Dark hours of night
linger all day, fairy lights
are happy relief.

Monday
Paper everywhere,
notes typed neatly/scrawled madly,
debris of my mind.

Tuesday
Suddenly darkness,

clouds converge, exposed to the

elements I melt.

Wednesday
Black bile gurgles up
meets the dark cloud; a haze forms,
I cower inside.

Thursday
Windows fog over,
condensation fills this house,
like a dark, damp cave.

happy little moments... festive times

Happy moments were spent this weekend (in no particular order)...
  • Watching the Nutcracker and being totally enthralled by the amazing music and production. Times like that, I wish I was a ballerina...
  • Enjoying the tastiest mojitoes in all the land whilst listening to the most amazing jazz singer in a local bar (ahhhh hidden treasures)...
  • Christmas shopping at Camden market finding treats galore for lots of people. Now I get to wrap them, which is almost the best part of the whole thing...
  • Crocheting along to some of my favourite films. Secret project finished :) ...
  • Sleeping in, dreaming in technicolour...
  • Taking some moments to breathe and just be in the midst of these hectic busy days. Inspirational quotation of the moment:
"Be happy for this moment. This moment is your life."
~Omar Khayyán~

Still, no point pretending that I can't wait for it to be the holidays. Just one more week.... x

A haiku a day...

Another busy few days here, so just my little haikus again this week. But it's a neat little collection I think - all my non-work based inspiration has been squeezed into these lines. Anyway, hope you enjoy....

Friday
The room sways, we stay,
Pour another glass, laugh, and
devour all the cheese.

Saturday
Hillful of strangers,
gathered to watch explosions,
huddled in the mist.

Sunday
We sleep on, morning
passes us by, are we lazy
or busy dreaming?

Monday
Dazed pigeons coo,
they
peck the ground in unison:
feathery robots

Tuesday
Afternoon fades out,
the skyline vanishes as
night falls on London.

Wednesday
After nightmares, blind
panic floats away at last,
clarity descends.

Thursday
Squirrels stop to watch
the hula hooping girl twirl,
Slow motion park scene.
